Chris Carroll was a seminal Greensboro NC musician; a fantastic singer, bass player and considered a true friend to everybody that knew him. When I was a young kid I would see him perform with my Father’s compadres and a few decades later I enjoyed playing with him with the Tim Betts band in the early 2000s and later with Cyril Lance and with Sam Frazier.
For a good number of years I was tasked with scooping up Chris from the local watering hole and getting us to & from every gig. We had a lot of big, fun and heavy times together traveling up and down the east coast.
I miss him – Sad he’s gone and wanted to share a few recordings with him that I ran across.
